Does the New Economy abandon the wage policy of industrial character or will the classical employee-employer-conflicts be present in the knowledge society? In the edited volume of Detlev Ehring and Peter Kalmbach (University Bremen)

"Weniger Arbeitslose - aber wie? Gegen Dogmen in der Arbeitsmarkt- und Beschäftigungspolitik"

Kurt Vogler-Ludwig maintains that knowledge and skills have not only become the most important competitive parameters for companies, but also determine the competition between employees on the labour market

By investments in human capital they lowered the efficiency wage, directed the structural change into know-how-intensive products and finally secured their working places. The trade unions have to realise that in the view of employees, expenditures for vocational training add more to income increases and employment safety than union dues. In the knowledge society wage policy is on retreat. Its new character consists of solutions for fundamental conflicts of labour law and the protection of minimum conditions for the weakest of the employees.

The book consist of 11 contributions about labour law and employment policy by Peter Kalmbach, Detlev Ehrig, Gerhard Leithäuser, Hartmut Tofaute, Ulrich Walwei, Joachim Wagner, Claus Schnabel, Arnd Kölling, Hans-Michael Trautwein, Gerhard Wohlfahrt und Heinz D. Kunz.
