Migration flows from Central and Eastern European Countries are among the big issues of this decade. The Economix partners have carried out several research projects which investigated the reasons for migration, forecasted its volume and to assessed the feedback onto Western European labour markets.
The studies indicate that there will be a continuous inflows of labour migrant labour from CEE countries in the current decade. Although immigration imposes a short-term burden on Western labour markets, its long-term effects can be expected to be positive.
